President has announced his vision to make Sri Lanka not only self-sufficient in rice, but also a rice-exporting nation. To make his laudable vision a reality, a farming festival (Vapmaguala) was recently held in Akuragoda, Battaramulla.
The national mission to cultivate all fallow paddy lands takes place under the full supervision and coordination of Sri Lanka Army’s newly established Agricultural and Livestock Directorate. Singer Sri Lanka PLC, the importer and distributor of John Deere tractors, the trusted choice of the country’s farming community, has come forward to partner this admirable endeavour.
As the first step, a 12-acre fallow paddy land in Akuragoda was ploughed using several John Deere tractors. From the tractors to tractor drivers and to all other related expenditure, including the fuel for the tractors, were supplied and borne by Singer Sri Lanka PLC.
With the main objective of uplifting Sri Lanka’s farming community, Singer Sri Lanka has introduced a number of John Deere tractor models compatible with the agricultural needs of the country’s farmers.
Excellent after sales service, ample availability of spare parts, provision of required technical know-how and service camps held throughout the country have made John Deere tractors extremely popular and well-loved by Sri Lanka’s farming community. The second phase of the fallow land cultivation programme is set to take place in Kandakadu, where 200 acres of fallow lands will be ploughed and cultivated.
Singer Sri Lanka with John Deere tractors considers it a great honour and privilege to partner this national initiative spearheaded by the President.
