The Bar Association of Sri Lanka Toastmasters Club recently held its second installation ceremony for its club officers and inducted its new club members online. The Executive Committee for the tenure 2021/2022 includes Shenali Dias, AAL – President, Rasangi Tillakeratne, AAL – Vice President – Education, Stephanie Fa’Rouke, AAL – Vice President – Membership, Shamara Firdous, AAL – Vice President – Public Relations, Varnani Dissanayake, AAL – Secretary, Kaushalya Rasnayake – Treasurer and Keheliya Alahakoon, AAL – Sergeant-at-Arms.
The Chief Guest at this occasion was Bar Association of Sri Lanka President Saliya Pieris, President’s Counsel, and the Guest of Honour was Distinguished Toastmaster Srianthie Salgado, the District Director of District 82 of Toastmasters.
The welcome address was delivered by Bar Association of Sri Lanka Secretary Rajeev Amarasuriya, AAL, and a compelling keynote speech was delivered at the ceremony by Distinguished Toastmaster Arunasalam Balraj, International President 2017-2018 of Toastmasters International.
The occasion was graced by the members of the judiciary, President’s Counsels, officers of the Attorney General’s Department, the President and Secretary of the Colombo Law Society, and other distinguished members of the legal fraternity. Further, the occasion was witnessed by the Distinguished Toastmaster Nisal Weerakoon, Program Quality Director of District 82, Distinguished Toastmaster Mahinda Karunakara, Club Growth Director of District 82, and numerous members of the Toastmasters fraternity.
The installing officer at the event was the Director of Area G1, Roshantha Jayatunge, and the inducting officer for the new member induction was the club’s charter President and Immediate Past President, Chamath Fernando, AAL.
The Bar Association of Sri Lanka Toastmasters Club offers members of the legal fraternity an opportunity to improve their communication and leadership skills in a comfortable and supportive environment. Under the aegis of the charter Executive Committee, the club achieved President’s Distinguished status in the year 2020/2021, the highest level of recognition awarded by Toastmasters International. The new Executive Committee is committed to maintaining the high standards set by the charter Executive Committee and taking the club to new heights.
