A law magazine ‘KC –The King’s Counsel’ has been launched by Srinath Fernando Diplomacy, a PR Consultancy run by Srinath Fernando, Masters Alumni of the Law Faculty University of Colombo, who is also the Chief Editor of the magazine.
The magazine, a digital version, caters to the legal practitioners in the British Commonwealth where English law is practiced.
Fernando says that he had sent a copy of the magazine to Sir Edward Young, Private Secretary to Queen Elizabeth, who had officially acknowledged the receipt of same.
The inaugural issue had been dedicated to Queen Elizabeth on her platinum jubilee and features her on the full cover page.
Srinath Fernando Diplomacy has also in January this year launched its first law magazine ‘The Anglo-American Lawyer’, which too is distributed digitally free of charge to law faculties and legal practitioners in US and British Commonwealth universities.
Fernando says there has never been a magazine published in Sri Lanka with a wider global reach through which Sri Lanka could ideally be promoted overseas. The response from Buckingham Palace does not refer to the Queen by name as is the usual protocol but only an acknowledgement. Fernando says, perhaps the Queen or Buckingham Palace may have been displeased that a magazine has been introduced for her successor which is quite a controversial issue in UK. Queens Counsels or QCs are automatically known as KC on the demise of the Queen. Fernando is coincidently an old boy of the Prince of Wales College Moratuwa.
