Rs. 1.2 b Colombo grid substations contract to South Korean firm

The Government has received Cabinet approval to award the contract for the construction of Colombo grid substations to Seoul-based South Korean conglomerate Hyosung Corporation.

The contract is awarded for the construction of the Colombo B Grid Substation under the Green Power Development and Energy Efficiency Improvement Investment Program, installation of single In and Out Connection from Colombo C Grid Substation and Kolonnawa 132/11 kV 800mm2 Cable and augmentation at the Colombo C and Kolonnawa Grid Substations.

The Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC) has recommended awarding the contract to Hyosung Corporation for a sum of Rs. 1,260.78 million. The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to the proposal made by Power and Renewable Energy Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya to award the contract to Hyosung Corporation.
