Public Forum on ‘Professional Education – Imperative for Economic Growth’ today

The National Human Resources Development Council of Sri Lanka (NHRDC) together with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the International Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS) and the International Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (ICCSL), will conduct a discussion forum on ‘Professional Education – Imperative for Economic Growth’ commencing at 8.30 p.m at the Cinema Lounge, BMICH, Colombo 7.  

The main objectives of this forum is to highlight the importance of continuous professional education and also to discuss the key issues surrounding quality assurance, governing regulations, standardisation, accreditation, and funding mechanisms. Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka will grace the event as the Chief Guest and Dharmavahini Foundation Patron Ven. Bhikkhu Mettavihari Thero will be the Guest of Honour.  University Grants Commission Chairman Prof. Mohan De Silva will deliver the keynote speech. 

The event will be followed by a panel discussion with the following experts: Dharmavahini Foundation Patron Ven. Bhikkhu Mettavihari Thero, Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission Chairman Prof. Dayantha Wijesekara, Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka President Eng. (Prof) T. M Pelawatte, International Institute of Health Sciences CEO/Chairman Dr. Kithsiri Edirisinghe, Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) Secretary Dr. Chandana Dharmaratne, Organisation of Professional Associations (OPA) President Eng. Nissanka Perera, CIM Consultant G. S. Sylvester, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Country Head Zahara Ansary, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management President Dhammika Fernando, Sri Lanka Institute of Directors Vice Chairperson Aroshi Nanayakkara. National Human Resources Development Council of Sri Lanka and International Chamber of Commerce SL Chairman Dinesh Weerakkody will moderate the session.
