Steps are being taken to reduce soil erosion in 2,500 hectares of land as per the 2020 development plan of the Hadabima Authority of Sri Lanka and an annual budget of 150 million rupees has been allocated for the program.
According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information yesterday, 40 district secretarial zones in 12 districts will be identified for the program. Hadabima Authority of Sri Lanka Chairman Amarananda Weerasinghe has said the project is expected to see the participation of over 15,000 farmers.
The program will focus on soil conservation and transformation, cultivation, and small-scale livestock farming for the career development of residents.
