People’s Bank celebrated World Children’s Day with a special event held at the Kandy City Centre (KCC).
Organised by Neth FM, the event included a wide variety of entertaining activities for children including song and dance routines as well as educational and fun games. People’s Bank supported a number of these games by presenting the winners with special prizes.
During the event, children were educated on the importance of nurturing the habit of saving while they were also taught about the various benefits of People’s Bank’s Isuru Udana and Sisu Udana accounts.
Secretary of Education and Chief Ministry of Central Provincial Council Nandana Galaboda, People’s Bank Kandy Assistant Regional Manager Disna Jayatissa, popular actress Nilmini Kottegoda, People’s Bank and Neth FM officials and a large number of children participated in the event. People’s Bank introduced the ‘Isuru Udana’ account to open a savings account for children from birth up to five years of age, while the ‘Sisu Udana’ account was launched for schoolchildren with the aim of inculcating the habit of saving from a child’s early days.
For several years, the bank has taken the initiative to open an Isuru Udana account with a cash deposit for every single baby born in the country. Today, People’s Bank has the highest number of student bank accounts in Sri Lanka and offers the highest interest rates together with a wide selection of education-oriented gifts.
