Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Saturday opened the DAG Apparel Garment Factory in Moneragala.
DAG Apparel Ltd. has set up this new garment factory with an investment of Rs. 500 million. It has created 600 direct jobs. Another 3,000 will receive indirect benefits. The new garment factory is expected to earn Rs. 3.5 billion a year from readymade garment exports.
The Prime Minister inaugurated the new garment factory by cutting the ribbon and observed its production activities.
DAG Apparel Ltd. Managing Director Gamini Keerthiratne and Board Members Dinuka Srimal, Nipuna Githmal, Shanika Kariyawasam and Suneth Gayashan, accompanied the Prime Minister on an inspection tour of the new garment factory.
Ministers Wimal Weerawansa and Dullas Alahapperuma, State Ministers Shasheendra Rajapaksa and Vijitha Berugoda, MPs Kumarasiri Ratnayake and Dr. Gayashan Navananda, former Minister Sumedha G. Jayasena and former MP Padma Udayashantha Gunasekara were also present on the occasion.
