The 53rd Annual Report Awards organised by CA Sri Lanka will be held on Tuesday, 5 December under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who will be the Chief Guest, while Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya will be the Guest of Honour. This year, 140 organisations from small time community groups to blue chip companies and conglomerates will vie for honours at the competition, which promotes transparency, accountability and social responsibility in financial reporting. The competition which revolves around the theme ‘Quintessence of Eminence’ will recognise the most cohesive, clear and customised annual reports that best reflect an entity’s operation, whilst going beyond its financial performance.
The aim of the competition, which spans a history of over half a century is to encourage effective communication to stakeholders through publication of informative annual reports; promoting effective presentation of financial and non-financial information; and compliance with legislative requirements and generally accepted accounting practices.
Winners are selected on their ability to communicate the objectives, highlights, performance, personnel and management clearly to an intended audience. The size, resources, complexity and sophistication of operation of each entrant will be considered in the judging process. These awards provide a holistic view of an organisation’s performance, going beyond the company’s bottom-line.
