The High Commission of India facilitated an online business promotion event on 21 August aimed at boosting bilateral economic engagement. The online event featured presentations on the products offered by BEML Ltd., India which was followed by an interaction between the participants.
BEML Ltd., India is a multi-technology and multi-location company and has supplied its products to more than 68 countries including in the Middle East, Africa and South and South-East Asia.
Participants from the Sri Lankan side included representatives from the Government and the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka, apart from representatives and members from the various Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The High Commission of India, Colombo was represented by Defence Adviser, Capt. Vikas Sood and the Head of the Economic and Commercial Wing, Dr. Rakesh Pandey. In their remarks, both officials emphasised the need to further broaden the economic linkages between India and Sri Lanka including through better understanding of the requirements and capabilities on both sides.
The High Commission of India continues to facilitate and support business promotion events and B2B interactions between the two sides, currently in online mode, as a part of its overall effort to strengthen bilateral ties and reinforce mutual efforts to mitigate the challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
