Channa Gunawardana has been appointed as the new CEO of the Dankotuwa Porcelain Plc.
Previously Dr. K.S. Narangoda functioned as the Acting CEO, a position which Ambeon Holdings Plc has rescinded.
Gunawardana has joined Dankotuwa Porcelain PLC from Aitken Spence Group, where he was the CEO/Directors of Aitken Spence Garments Ltd.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) and also a fellow of the Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, with a MBA from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. He holds a First Class degree from the Department of Accountancy and Financial Management of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is reading for his PhD with Management and Science University in Malaysia.
He has extensive experience in overseas operations, as the Country Manager of Ernst & Young – Maldives, and with apparel operations in Bangladesh. Further, he was instrumental in setting up one of the pioneering manufacturing plants, in the emerging apparel market in Africa, in 2015.
Gunawardana served in Hirdaramani group for 12 years and was the Chief Operating Officer of Knit Cluster towards end of his Hirdaramani years. He was responsible for operations of 10 manufacturing units.
He is recognised as the country's leading CIMA Case Study lecturer and conducts leadership programs for youth in his spare time.
