As a brand that resonates by empowering the country’s exporters, the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE), the only private sector chamber which exclusively serves Sri Lankan exporters, entered into a strategic partnership with national carrier SriLankan Airlines, to collectively support the country’s export industry.
As a national chamber, NCE said it was honoured to partner SriLankan Airlines, viewing this collaboration as a personal milestone.
SriLankan Airlines signed up with the chamber under a premium sponsorship of the prestigious Annual Export Awards 2019, the chamber’s flagship event, which was conducted recently at Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo. This event, which recognises and rewards the achievements of Sri Lankan exporters in the international market covering both products and services, is an event of national significance and eagerly anticipated by Sri Lanka’s export community.
Furthermore, under the same agreement, SriLankan Airlines will also act as one of the strategic sponsors of many events and forums conducted by the chamber in support of member exporters and the general public. This partnership agreement was signed on 17 October 2019 and will be valid for one year, renewable thereafter with mutual consent between the partners to the agreement.
Apart from being the country’s flagship carrier, SriLankan Airlines is a member of the Oneworld airline alliance and operates over 560 flights per week to 114 destinations in 48 countries, including codeshare operations from its main hub located at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
Being the recipient of many international accolades, SriLankan won the prestigious ‘Asia’s Leading Airline to the Indian Ocean’ title for the third consecutive year at the World Travel Awards held this month.
In terms of the Government’s objective to elevate the Sri Lankan export sector to $ 28 billion by 2022, this partnership is a reflection of how the National Chamber of Exporters and the national airline champion a well-coordinated process involving all relevant private and public sector stakeholders.
