National Chamber hosts Iranian Ambassador on Wednesday

Ambassador of Iran to Sri Lanka Mohammed Zaeri Amirani will be the special guest speaker at a session on ‘Bilateral Trade between Sri Lanka & Iran’ organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, on Wednesday 11 October from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Chamber Auditorium No 450 D.R. Wijewardena Mawatha, Colombo-10. 

He will be accompanied by the Deputy Ambassador of Iran Mohamed Reza Ahamadi. The purpose of this session is to brief the business community on trade and regulations, items that are in demand for import and export, joint venture/investment opportunities in Iran and any other important information.

The participants will get an opportunity to interact with the Ambassador and officials of the Embassy at the session and find out any trade related information on Iran.

Iran is one of the world’s oldest civilisations, with settlements dating back to 4000 B.C. Its capital is Tehran. Population is around 81 million. Iran is former Persia.

Iran is interested to supply medicine, medical equipment, agricultural machinery, tractors, fertiliser, bitumen, and petrochemicals to Sri Lanka. 

Sri Lanka’s main exports to Iran are tea, coconuts, coco peat and fibre, and industrial gloves, Brazil nuts, cashew nuts, cartons, boxes, etc.

Sri Lanka imports from Iran: Electrical insulators, screws/bolts/nuts, earth moving machinery.

Potential export items to Iran: Black Tea, animal feed, food preparations, natural rubber, bicycles, petroleum oils, etc.
