The National Enterprise Development Authority and the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka concluded the ‘Western Province Entrepreneurship Awards Ceremony 2020’ at BMICH on 10 March.
Ministry of Industries Secretary. Anusha Pelpita attended the occasion as the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour was NEDA Chairman/Director General Anushka Gunasinghe among other dignitaries.
The awards scheme was designed for micro, small, medium and large sector entrepreneurs in the fields of industry/manufacturing sector, agriculture/livestock/fisheries sector and hospitality/tourism and other services sector.
Further awards were presented for best practices under 11 thematic areas; Best Environmental Friendly Enterprise, Best Exporter, Best Productive Enterprise, Best Innovative Enterprise, Best Value Added Enterprise, Best Energy Efficient Enterprise, Award for the Entrepreneur Who has Provided the Most Number of Jobs for Females, Award for the Best Woman Entrepreneur, Award for the Best Entrepreneur – Differently Abled, Award for the Best Entrepreneur – Recovered from COVID-Related Business Issues and Award for the Best Entrepreneur – Survived During the COVID-19 Pandemic.
‘The Best Entrepreneur of the Year 2020 – Western Province’ is the most prestigious award of the event. It recognises the most outstanding enterprise in the province in 2020 and it was awarded to Christell Skin Clinic Ltd. The event was attended by a large gathering of MSME and Large sector entrepreneurs together with Government officials, top corporate representatives.
Since the establishment in 2006 as a Government entity, the National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA) promotes supports, encourages and facilitate enterprise development within Sri Lanka with special emphasis to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector of the country
The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka was established in 1948 with a vision of being the leading source of service and assistance to businesses countrywide for promotion of domestic and foreign trade with special emphasis on the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
