Ambassador of Poland to Sri Lanka Adam Burakowski will be the Special Guest Speaker at a Session on ‘Bilateral Trade between Sri Lanka & Poland’ organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, on Wednesday, 26 February from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the National Chamber Auditorium, No. 450, D.R. Wijewardena Mawatha, Colombo 10.
The main items exported from Sri Lanka to Poland in 2018 were: tea, valued at $ 20 million; belts, harnesses and binders, valued at $ 14.4 million; innerwear garments, valued at $ 8.6 million; ready-made garments, valued at $ 8.1 million; and pneumatic tyres and related accessories, valued at $ 5.7 million.
Polish exports to Sri Lanka in 2018, were: sugar (cane/beet/sacharose), valued at $ 22.5 million; paper and cardboard products, valued at $ 2.2 million; rolled steel products, valued at $ 1.5 million; iron and steel products and related parts, valued at $ 1 million; and printed electrical circuits, valued at $ 0.8 million.
In November 2019 LOT Polish airlines, the national carrier of Poland, commenced direct flight services from Warsaw to Colombo. It is expected that the number of Polish tourists visiting Sri Lanka (and vice versa) will rise significantly and will also open the doors for further enhancement of Poland-Sri Lanka relations.
Presently, Poland and Sri Lanka have entered into agreements on Double Tax Avoidance; Cooperation in the field of Culture, Education and Science; and Tourism.
