Mangala calls on Ronnie

Minister of Finance Mangala Samaraweera yesterday called on former Minister of Finance Ronnie de Mel. The meeting took place at the Colombo residence of de Mel. Former Chief Minister of the Southern Province H.G.Sirisena was also present at the meeting. “Mr. Ronnie de Mel was the man who spearheaded the open economy in 1977 and still remains an inspiration to me, as we continue the liberalisation of the economy from where he stopped,” Minister Samaraweera said.
