‘Malta Your Gateway to Europe’ breakfast meeting will take place on Friday 4 May, 8:30 a.m. onward at The Kingsbury Hotel Janadhipathi Mawatha, Colombo. The event is presented by Blue Stone Management Ltd. and BBK Partnership Ltd. and ARQ, in association with the European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (ECSSL).
Malta’s multi-tier financial firm ARQ will be sending two top representatives, to discuss opportunities for Sri Lankan businesses to access the European market through Malta and strategies to develop overall economic resilience in Sri Lanka.
Malta was one of few nations to openly support Sri Lanka’s bid to regain GSP plus trade concessions from the EU.
Speakers will include ARQ’s partner David Borg, a seasoned business development expert who has worked with large international players based in Malta. In addition, ARQ Managing Director Jean Paul Fabri, who was a Commonwealth expert on building resiliency in island-states.
“We believe that resilience-building has the potential of ushering a new era of growth in Sri Lanka. Our experience from other small states, primarily Malta, demonstrates that a policy effort towards building resilience can leave long-lasting effects on an economy and society,” Borg and Fabri said in joint statement.
“As a small island state characterised by inherent vulnerabilities, Malta has managed to carve its economic success based on an economic vision based on the power of regulation. Malta’s jurisdictional innovation has allowed it to build a thriving economy, generating quality jobs and sustaining a generous welfare state.”
The event is presented by Blue Stone Management Ltd. and BBK Partnership Ltd. accounting BPO, which has quickly grown to employ 100 staff throughout our headquarters in Colombo, and offices in Jaffna. A new a state-of-the-art office Vavuniya is aimed at further expansion in Sri Lanka, and it will be open next month.
Blue Stone and BBK were founded by Paventhan Savunthararasa and Arnold Anandan respectively, who have migrated from Sri Lanka during the 1980s to France and the UK. Both gentlemen have decided to return to Sri Lanka and use their knowledge, experience and contacts to expand the opportunities provided to Sri Lankans and deepen access to markets in Europe.
