Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to India Austin Fernando and the Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrama, met the Indian Business Community at a Sri Lanka Business and Investment Forum held at the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry today (8) in Ahmedabad. The discussion centred on ways in which business could be developed between Gujarat and Sri Lanka.
Minister Samarawickrama explained how business can be established between the two countries, and the businessmen shared their experiences in establishing business with Sri Lanka. The Minister and the officials also responded to queries by the participants on establishing business with Sri Lanka. Four chief executive officers of Indian companies that have connected business with Sri Lanka shared their experiences with the businessmen who were present, which enabled all interested parties to benefit from their first-hand experiences.
Board of Investment Chairman Mangala Yapa, Sri Lanka’s Consul General in Mumbai Chamari Rodrigo and Minister (Commercial) of the Sri Lanka High Commission in New Delhi, Upekkha Samarathunga were also present at the discussion together with around 90 businessmen.
During their visit to Gujarat, Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrama and High Commissioner Austin Fernando also met with the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijaybhai Rupani and held constructive discussions on establishing and expanding Sri Lanka-Gujarat business investments and connections. Consul General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai Chamari Rodrigo and officials from the Chief Minister Rupani’s Office were associated with the meeting.
