Dismissing the red flag raised by LP Gas Distributors Association of Sri Lanka, the State-run Litro Gas yesterday assured that there will be no shortage of liquid petroleum (LP) gas supply.

“We will not allow any scaling down of LP gas supply island-wide by our distributors,” Litro Gas Lanka Ltd. Sales, Marketing and Corporate Affairs Director Chaminda Ediriwickrama told the Daily FT.

He pointed out that these 35 distributors are regulated and managed by Litro Gas through a five-year renewable agreement, and thereby they will not be able to create an adverse situation in the economy.

Acknowledging that LPGDASL members are going through a difficult time with the rising costs, with no firm resolution to their grievances, Ediriwickrama said Litro Gas has lobbied many times to all relevant authorities but their efforts have not been fruitful.

“Price adjustment for an essential commodity like LP gas requires a pricing formula, which the authorities have been failed to provide after many applications submitted,” he stressed.

According to Ediriwickrama, Litro Gas Lanka has lobbied the Finance Ministry, Industry and Commerce Ministry, Cabinet Sub Committee on Cost of Living, and Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA).

“The CAA has to act on this soon,” he added.
