Lanka Spice Ltd. (LSL), owners of the renowned brand ‘Mc Currie’, bagged two Gold Awards in the Provincial – Extra Large Category Western Province and the National Gold Award – Extra Large Category at the Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2018, organised by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Sri Lanka.

LSL is a company that has been in the spice and spice related products industry, including ready-to-eat jar products, for the past 35 years. LSL is accredited with ISO 22000:2010 for Food Safety Systems, ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management Systems, is Halal certified, and is a member of the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (SEDEX).

The entrepreneur behind these awards is none other than LSL’s Chairman, Nalin Pathikirikorale the silent figure behind the company’s success. He was a pioneer in commodity trading in Sri Lanka. LSL’s slogan is ‘Passionate about Purity’. Pathikirikorale’s ‘open’ style of management has assisted in stimulating managers and the workforce into a dynamic force. Commenting on the receipt of this prestigious award Pathikirikorale said, “Entrepreneurs are unique. No two entrepreneurs are the same. Some start from poverty, others begin with wealth, some are young and some old. The only thing common to all is that they habitually create and innovate to build something of recognised value around perceived opportunities. I take this opportunity to thank my employees without whose support this achievement would have been impossible.”
