Lander, headquartered in Spain, designs, manufactures, installs and maintains railway and automotive driving simulators in five continents for over two decades. With a workforce of more than 110 employees, Lander is one of the leading companies in developing the most advanced driving simulators and it develops new solutions that solve the training needs of its clients.
The project titled ‘Supply, installation, commissioning and handing over of a train simulator for Sri Lanka Railways’ is funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The simulator unit that is customised according to the distinctive requirements of the Sri Lanka railway network by Lander Simulation and Training Solutions, Spain will be mobilised by the company’s local partner, Avonsmart Engineering Ltd.
The commercial agreement was signed by Ministry of Transport and Highways Secretary R.W. Pemasiri and Lander Simulation and Training Solutions Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jose Montero, in the presence of Avonsmart Engineering CEO Sudesh Gamage, Colombo Suburban Railways Project (CSRP) Project Director Upali Mallikarachchi, Transport Ministry Chief Accountant E. Subramanium, Lander Simulation and Training Solutions Area Manager Alvaro Oreja, CSRP officials, Transport Ministry officials, Avonsmart staff and other well-wishers on 20 October at Maga Neguma Maha Madura, Battaramulla.
Sharing his thoughts on the occasion, Avonsmart Engineering CEO Sudesh Gamage stated, “At a time when professional development options for locomotive drivers are limited to on-the-job training, we are pleased to introduce state of the art technology through our principal partner Lander Simulation and Training Solutions. Further, we hope that this technology will enhance the efficiency of training of the new entrants to the field as well as help to further develop the skills of the existing group of employees at Sri Lanka Railway in the long term.”
Speaking at the commercial agreement signing ceremony, Lander Simulation and Training Solutions Area Manager Alvaro Oreja stated, “We are pleased to work with Sri Lanka Railways and Avonsmart Engineering, one of the best engineering companies in Sri Lanka, to produce this simulator that provides real-time training to locomotive drivers with utmost safety standards made possible by state-of-the-art technology.
