Kelani Cables commences island-wide distribution of Kelani LED Bulbs

Kelani Cables PLC, the manufacturer of the No. 1 brand in secure electrical and communication cables in Sri Lanka, ventured into producing power-packed LED bulbs and unveiled its newest Kelani LED Bulbs range to the island wide market recently.

The company subsequently launched its countrywide distribution process of the Kelani LED Bulb, covering the North and East and every electrical retail shop in the country.

The function to mark this sales expansion drive of Kelani LED Bulbs was held at Gateway Hotel, Seeduwa, with the participation of Kelani Cables Director/CEO Mahinda Saranapala.

The occasion was also was graced by General Manager (Marketing) Anil Munasinghe, Sales Manager (Exports) Devinda Lorensuhewa, Brand Development Manager Channa Jayasinghe, Sales Manager Chaminda Waidyatilleke, Sales controller Ralph Roshan, Sales Manager (Power and energy) Rohana Wadduwage, and the sales team of Kelani Cables.

Kelani Cables has built and maintained a positive reputation over a period of 50 years with its secure electrical and communication cables, and that led the company to venture into producing Kelani LED Bulbs in the ‘Kelani Lighting’ product range.

However, the company initially distributed the product in a limited purview as a test marketing strategy, having provisions to further enhance the quality of the product.

Kelani LED Bulbs subsequently proved to be a product that is suitable for the ‘Kelani Lighting’ product range. There were no technical flaws and no customer complaints on the Kelani LED Bulb, and the product won the hearts of customers, enhancing its sales day-by-day. Endorsements made by customers on the product led the company to launch an island-wide distribution campaign for the product.

Sri Lankan households can now benefit from a range of Kelani LED Bulbs, which have a greater lighting capacity of 3W to 11W and come in Daylight and Warm Light types. The bulbs come in both Screw type and Pin type, with a two-year warranty.

Kelani LED Bulb range’s newest bulb saves electricity by 85% and has a 15 year lifetime which will support customers in keeping their electricity bills from soaring.

Kelani Cables General Manager (Marketing)Anil Munasinghe, speaking of the Kelani LED Bulb, said Kelani Cables ventured into producing LED bulbs in addition to producing secure electrical and communication cables after a comprehensive study revealed the need for better LED bulbs for Sri Lankan households.

“Kelani LED bulbs serve the varied purposes of the Sri Lankan consumer. We have a superior product that emits more light and has a greater reach. That is the USP of Kelani LED Bulb. This newest range of LED Bulb has greater emission power and greater lifetime. Consumers who complain about low emission of light from various LED bulb products have now become loyal customers of the Kelani LED Bulb. While all other LED bulbs emit a conical-shaped light, Kelani LED Clear Bulb emits light to spread fully. Hence Kelani LED Bulb could be treated as the ideal product for any household,” said Munasinghe.

He added, “Since the Kelani LED Bulb was distributed in a limited area, we got complaints from customers and sales agents who did not have access to this new product. They insisted that Kelani LED Bulb should be distributed in their vicinities as well. Heeding their requests, we started distributing the product on a macro level, covering the whole country.”
