The visiting delegation of Japan called on State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe to discuss the current economic situation and has assured continuous support for debt restructuring process in Sri Lanka.
“The Japanese delegation reiterated their continuous support in the debt restructuring process,” the State Minister said, adding that this was expressed in a discussion that focused on the current economic status in Sri Lanka as well as the reforms and measures implemented so far to overcome the challenging situation.
The Finance, Economic Stabilisation, and National Policies Ministry in a statement noted that the discussion was held between a delegation of the Japanese Embassy in Sri Lanka and the Finance Ministry officials, including the State Minister Semasinghe.
Japan Foreign Affairs Ministry Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department Assistant Minister/Director General Yutaka Arima, Japan Foreign Affairs Ministry Southwest Asia Division Director Tstsumi Taro, Japanese Ambassador Mizukoshi Hideaki, Minister/Deputy Head of Mission Katsuki Kotaro, Japan Foreign Affairs Ministry Southwest Asia Division Deputy Director Iwase Kiichiro, Japan Foreign Affairs Ministry First Secretary/Head Development Cooperation Division Ohashi Kenji, Treasury Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena, Deputy Treasury Secretary Priyantha Ratnayake, and Department of Foreign Resources Additional Director-General Sampath Mantrinayake were present in this discussion.
