Deviating from the instant solution seeking trend, Irahanda Group revolutionised the beverage market with its novel products such as Siddhi, Aloecoma and Siyamba Cola. While Siddhi is helping to fight obesity Aloekoma gives relief to gastritis. On the other hand Siyamba Cola added meaning and nutritional value to parties reversing the multi-chemical cola culture.
In a move to ensure a toxic-free food habit, Irahanda Group recently introduced yet another revolutionary drink – ‘the Winter Melon’. Popularly known as ash gourd and scientifically called Benincasa hispida, the winter melon fruit has been made in to a drink preserving its taste and nutritional value for the first time.
Rich in Vitamin B, protein and Vitamin C, winter melon was a regular item in ancient giants’ food. Since it is grown in the dry zone it has a natural cooling effect. Winter melon seeds and pulp are used in Ayurveda for curing kidney diseases and bladder stones. Also ash gourd is recommended for heart diseases and fever caused by bile. Due to its aphrodisiac power, winter melon was grown along the fence in the good old days. Manufactured with pure winter melon in an ISO and WHO accredited plant, the ‘Winter Melon’ drink is an easy option to get the nutrition and fresh taste of ash gourd.
It comes in medium sugar level with no artificial additives. Winter melon juice is extracted and bottled in Irahanda plant following strict quality standards under the supervision of Director, Thushani Ratnayake who is an ex-lecturer in chemistry and food technology of the University of Colombo. Several years of scientific research has resulted in this quality drink which gives taste and nutritional value of the winter melon.
