November at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre (BMICH) in Colombo.
Inaugurated by Ministry of Industry and Commerce Additional Secretary M.A. Thajudeen, the three-day fair will connect international buyers from 15 countries and regions to network with quality suppliers from over 12 countries showcasing yarns, apparel fabrics, denim fabrics, clothing accessories and allied services, dyes and chemicals at the biggest international apparel textile sourcing show in the South Asian region.
Inaugurating Intex South Asia 2019, Additional Secretary Thajudeen said, “This is a win-win situation for buyers and suppliers. Even the Sri Lankan Apparel Industry can get some ideas for their technology, as well as purchasing of raw materials. I hope that the SME textile and apparel industry especially will benefit from this exhibition.”
Export Development Board Chairperson Indira Malwatte said, “I have visited the 1st edition of Intex South Asia, I can see remarkable improvement with the number of companies and exhibitors this year.”
As the largest trade fair of its kind in the region, Intex South Asia welcomes more than 200 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions. The show has ramped up its offerings not only in terms of new pavilions like the Indonesian Pavilion and large pavilions from India and China, but also added categories such as the Dyes and Chemicals Zone which added more depth to the show.
Intex South Asia’s Interactive Business Forum Seminar Series delivered high quality market intelligence to support industry efforts to upgrade, move up the value chain, and better understand global trends. Presented by three renowned organisations, namely the Cotton Council International’s ‘Cotton USA’, Fashion for Good from the Netherlands, and Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) from Geneva, Switzerland, these seminars assist industry across South Asia to create a more relevant manufacturing hub supplying globally as well as domestically.
This year, a panel discussion on “Materials, Sustainability and Circularity” saw the top industry leaders from across the region present their views on sustainability processes of the industry in South Asia at the Networking Reception.
The Networking Reception organised by Intex South Asia was an event where high-level interactions took place in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The organisers took this opportunity to celebrate the 5th Edition of their show and to felicitate their long term support partners in industry, as well as the Boards and Associations through whose support Intex South Asia has grown to become the largest international apparel sourcing show in the region.
