Indo Lanka Chamber congratulates President Gotabaya

  • Looks forward to increase in bilateral investment, trade and tourism between Sri Lanka and India

The Membership and Executive Committee of the Indo Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ILCCI) have extended their congratulations and best wishes to Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the seventh Executive President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, on his election and assumption of office.

The full text of the letter from the chamber is as follows:

“On behalf of the Membership and Executive Committee of the Indo Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ILCCI), we wish to extend our warmest and heartfelt congratulations to you on your election as the seventh Executive President of Sri Lanka. It is with great expectation and confidence that we look forward to your tenure as our President and know that under your strong and astute leadership, you will instil a culture of integrity, good governance and sustainable development in Government, the public service and society at large.

“The Indo Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry was established in 2006, under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, with the main objectives of promoting trade, investment and tourism between Sri Lanka and India. Our membership consists Sri Lankan businesses, Sri Lankan-Indian Joint Ventures and Indian businesses incorporated in Sri Lanka, across a diverse set of industries and trades.

“As you embark on your Presidency, it is with great pleasure that we pledge to extend our fullest and unstinted support to you towards implementing your policies to drive sustainable and equitable economic growth in the country. We also look forward to an increase in bilateral investment, trade and tourism between Sri Lanka and India under your leadership and guidance, particularly with respect to improving the ease of doing business within the region; and stand ready to play our part in that context.
