The first-ever Ceylon Petroleum Week (CPW) will be held in the last week of November at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo. During the week, leaders from the oil and gas industry will have the opportunity to discuss the state of the industry and forge new business ties.
The focal points of the event, organised by Conference Connection as part of a series of global flagship oil and gas events, will be the Ceylon International Petroleum and Gas Conference (CIPC ‘18) on 27 and 28 November. CIPC ‘18 will be held simultaneously with Ceylon Bitumen Conference (CEYBIT 2018) taking place on 28 November. The first conference will examine the state of the Sri Lankan energy markets and its petroleum value chain, investment prospects for new refineries and exports and expansion in oil storage infrastructure and petroleum gateways. The second will explore growing opportunities in South Asia’s expanding bitumen markets.
Discussions are also expected to include the potential for the creation of a South Asian bunkering and logistics hub and Sri Lanka’s strategic position on the East-West maritime routes, particularly given the ongoing expansion of its infrastructure.
Addresses will be made by several Sri Lankan Ministers, including the Minister of Petroleum Resources Development Arjuna Ranatunga, Minister of Ports and Shipping Mahinda Samarasinghe and State Minister of Highways and Road Development Dr. M.L.A.M. Hisbullah. Delegates and distinguished speakers from nearly 20 countries will be in attendance, including Petronet LNG Ltd. of India Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Prabhat Singh who will deliver a special address on the LNG Markets. The conferences will be followed by several days of business meetings between international and local participants.
“The aim is for the Ceylon Petroleum Week to become a key platform for the sharing of knowledge and market intelligence between regional and global players across these industries, including those in oil trading, storage, refining/blending, petroleum products, fuel oil, bitumen, Gas/LNG, bunkering port authorities, major shipping lines, ship-owners, financial and legal advisers as well as the supply and services sector,” said Conference Connection Chief Executive Vimla Mulchand.
“Ceylon Petroleum Week brings into focus Sri Lanka’s growing stature as a regional player in the oil and gas industry. The opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with their peers will allow participants to gather a wealth of information and establish long-standing connections with the key players in the industry,” she added.
The HIPG Group is a Gold Sponsor for this event, which is also supported by the Ceylon Association of Shipping Agents (CASA), National Construction Association of Sri Lanka (NCASL), Sri Lanka Ship Suppliers Association (SLSSA), The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Women in Logistics and Transport and the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA).
