The Industrial Security Foundation President, Chief Secretary, Treasurer and former President and Media Spokesman Lalith Bandaranayake recently held a briefing to highlights some pressing issues. Following is the statement issued by the ISF.

Concerning the present situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka, there are more than 250,000 security personnel carrying out their duties even without going home. Adhering to the rules and regulations relevant to prevent spread of this virus, they stay in the duty location itself and protect all assets by day and night that belongs to the public sector as well as private sector.

No one is there to appreciate the dedicated service rendered by them in Sri Lanka. But the Industrial Security Foundation (ISF) is there to look after them. The Industrial Security Foundation is well-established and incorporated by an Act of Parliament – Act No. 51 of 1999.

This Foundation’s aim, as a strong professional body is to take up the challenge and make efforts to improve the standards of the trade. To achieve this, ISF has been able to conduct seminars, workshops for security personnel on leadership and motivation, training on various subjects such as what is security? firefighting, first aid and special training relevant to various establishments. The ISF is mainly concerned with the security personnel’s welfare, training and any other grievances (such as labour problems, wages board matters or any other).

For all these the ISF former President Lalith Bandaranayake was appointed as media spokesman on 15 December.

For all deployed security personnel island-wide, comprehensive training is been carried out by qualified training instructors. During these training sessions, security personnel get solutions for their betterment.

Summary of ISF past activities:

  • Held a firing meet with participation of security personnel in inter security organisations and it was conducted by firing expert Colonel Janaka Ritigahapola.
  • Hosted an annual sport meet as well as a musical show to build up security guards’ morale. We are happy to state that a lot of security establishments are contributing for these events.
  • Organised an eye clinic with the contribution of Lions Club. Gave spectacles and many more items relating to eye defects.
