For the third time, the Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce organised the ‘Hambantota District Best Traders Association 2017-2018’ to select winners from 18 trade associations.
The awards ceremony was held in parallel to the 25th Annual General Meeting of the Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce on 29 September at Peacock Beach Hotel, Hambantota. Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Buddika Pathirana participated as a Chief Guest.
The 18 trade and sectoral associations throughout the Hambantota District were all eligible to become winners in the competition. Their performance was considered in relation to evaluation, encouragement and acknowledgement in the following two areas: Providing the opportunity to enter into self-assessment of how to run an association; and encouraging entrepreneurs on social duties and responsibilities. The winners were selected by a nominated judge panel and were successful based on how they conducted their activities and the quality of their activities for the year 2017-2018.
The ‘How digital is redesigning the future work plan’ program was delivered after the AGM. It was conducted by Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA). The event’s main sponsor was World University Service of Canada (WUSC).
