Labour and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara hands over the contribution to President and Finance Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday
The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) yesterday paid a record Rs. 3 billion as dividends to the Treasury under the guidance of Labour and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara.
Previously, the total amount of money given to the Treasury by the SLBFE was Rs. 3.38 billion and this is the first time in history that Rs. 3 billion had been given by way of a single contribution.
Nanayakkara said taking into account the current economic situation in the country, Rs. 3 billion was given to the Treasury from the operating surplus of the SLBFE for the previous year.
SLBFE also granted Rs. 500 million to buy necessary drugs for the cancer hospital. From this amount Rs. 100 million has been already granted.
