Export Development Board (EDB) in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Embassy in Vietnam arranged the first-ever participation of Sri Lankan businesses at the 20th edition of Viet Nam Expo, which was held from 1 to 3 December at Sai Gon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City.
Representing Sri Lankan businesses, Hemas Manufacturing Ltd., Ceylon Fresh Teas Ltd., Ceylon Biscuits Ltd., Kelani Cables PLC, OREL Corporation Ltd., and the four SME companies viz. Healthy Foods Lanka Exports Ltd., Kandrick Tea Beverages Lanka Ltd., Dehami Products and Success Holdings Ltd. participated at the Expo.
The Sri Lankan companies received well over 100 trade inquiries and held a large number of business meetings with interested parties. They have also interacted with over 20 potential buyers of products, mainly in the areas of electric cables, industrial electric products, cinnamon products, and various types of tea.
The Sri Lanka Pavilion was ceremonially opened by Ministry of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam Agency for Southern Affairs Director General Nguyen Van Nga, Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency Deputy Representative Bui Hoang Yen, and Vinexad Advertising and Trade Fair Joint Stock Company President-General Director Nguyen Khac Luan, by lighting the oil lamp and cutting the ribbon.
The Expo provided an excellent platform for a variety of product sectors, such as Machinery and Electronics, Hardware and Hand Tools, Food and Propack, Garden and Landscape, and an International Pavilion, where countries displayed their unique products. Being the biggest trade Expo, Viet Nam Expo consisted of approximately 550 booths, with representation from 20 countries and 13,000 visitors.
