The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka (AHK Sri Lanka) organised on 28 January a CEO Dinner for the first time, in the presence of State Minister Rambukwella, German Ambassador in Sri Lanka Jörn Rohde, German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy’s Head of Unit Transport Policy and Mobility Concepts Dr. Stephan Hesselmann and 16 top decision makers of German companies in Sri Lanka.
As the official host and moderator of the evening, German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka Chief Delegate Andreas Hergenröther stated: “We organised tonight’s dinner to offer a platform for German investors to discuss their current investments in Sri Lanka and further investment opportunities. In a recently conducted business confidence survey by AHK Sri Lanka, about 30% of the German companies announced they would have concrete investment plans for 2020. More than 80% of the respondents identified the reliability of the legal framework as their major challenge. As the official representative of German business in Sri Lanka we are strongly committed to fair and free trade, a level playing field, transparency and rule of law.”
Among the participating companies were world market leaders such as Allianz, DHL, Linde, Continental, Siemens, Fresenius, Deutsche Bank, FTI-Touristik, MTU, MAN Energy Solutions, BBraun, Haefele and Mercmarine. AHK Sri Lanka has started to organise CEO Dinners with Sri Lankan politicians, such as with former Minister Malik Samarawickrama two years ago, in order to fulfil its function as catalyst of German business towards Sri Lankan institutions. AHK Sri Lanka is part of the German Chamber network of 142 offices worldwide.
