Dynamic AV Technologies Ltd. announced the appointment of Malik Fernando as Managing Director effective 5 October.
With a background in Finance, Fernando holds a postgraduate Diploma in Management from Brunel University, London UK and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the University of Essex, UK. He served as the Finance Director at Dynamic AV and holds several other board positions across multiple industries within leading organisations.
As a co-founder of Dynamic AV, Fernando was instrumental in orchestrating the company’s success. He secured partnerships with international brands such as the Herman Professional Group which syndicate brands including JBL, Crown and Sound Craft.
Dynamic AV was founded in 2008 under the patronage of partners Mohan Abeyasinghe, Naomal Abeyesekere, Dhanushka Fernando and Malik Fernando who utilised their individual expertise to lead the way to become Sri Lankas leading audio-visual equipment and service provider.
“When we started out, my vision was to have a small business focused on mainly selling Audio Visual equipment. We even budgeted a turnover of approximately Rs. 30 million and were amazed when we hit Rs. 110 million in just the first year of operations. The four of us would personally go and visit clients and set up equipment. We had a great team of seven hardworking individuals in a small rent-ed out office space in Colombo 5,” said Fernando.
The company eventually went on to become Sri Lanka’s number one provider in end-to-end Audio-Visual solutions. Currently with a workforce of over 100 members, Dynamic AV is responsible for ex-ecuting some of the largest Audio-Visual projects in the country; with total dominance in the confer-encing and interpretation market segment the company has installed their equipment at high level government institutions, several universities, and military bases.
Dynamic AV is also the dominant service provider in the public address system segment in the hospi-tality industry, partnering with leading hotel conglomerates such as John Keells Hotels and Heritance Hotels, also including four international brands, Shangri-La Hambantota, Hilton Colombo, Hyatt, and Sheraton Hotel – a Marriot Group brand.
“My journey with Dynamic AV has been amazing and I am so proud of the work we have accom-plished together throughout the years. I am looking forward to taking the company further in my new position. We are also proud to be associated with the largest Audio-Visual project in the country – the Cinnamon Life Project. We will be moving into new markets in the future. For example, with the pandemic people are now investing in home entertainment systems and I see a lot of potential in this segment. We are currently focusing on low-cost pro-consumer products so customers can have the full experience of professional Audio-Visual equipment in their very own homes,” he con-tinued.
Consistent growth enabled the company to obtain total confidence to penetrate local and foreign markets.
“We used our success to improve relationships with our suppliers who over time grew in confidence to partner with an organisation such as ours. Within the first five years of business, Dynamic AV tri-pled its estimated growth projections. With a solutions-based approach the company today pioneers the way forward in Audio Visual solutions. A strong plan for sustained success is in place and the Board unanimously agrees that now is the time for my transition to managing director. My confi-dence in the future of the company is rooted in my confidence in my team who has worked tireless-ly to make Dynamic AV what it is today. They are fully committed to lead, motivated to win, and have strong focus on sustained excellence in everything they do — serving consumers through an inte-grated strategy that delivers balanced growth and value creation,” added Fernando.
Fernando also holds the honorary position of Chancery of the Austrian Consulate of the Republic of Austria in Sri Lanka and is a founding member and President of the Austrian Business Circle in the country.
