Mohamed Abdullah Mohamed Maharoof re-assumed duties yesterday as the Deputy Minister of Ports and Shipping. The function took place at the Office of the Deputy Minister of Ports and Shipping.
Expressing his views after re-assuming duties, Deputy Minister Maharoof stated that he regretted the Easter Sunday attacks, and how accordingly all Muslim Ministers resigned from portfolios. “However, considering Sri Lanka’s future development and coexistence as advised by the Chief Buddhist incumbents and Muslim religious leaders, we decided to re-assume duties,” the Deputy Minister said.
He further said that he was proud to represent the Trincomalee District in Parliament, and would extend his fullest support to develop the Port of Trincomalee as a prime port that contributes towards national development. Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Managing Director Capt. Athula Hewavitharana and several SLPA higher officers and employees also participated at the occasion.
