The organisers of the awards for the Most Admired Companies of Sri Lanka 2018 Awards, The International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICCSL) and The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), have extended the deadline for submission of applications from prestigious companies, at their request.
The awards, the first of its kind to be introduced, has created wide interest amongst the business community here in Sri Lanka, due to the recognition it will bestow on the companies. The companies thus chosen have not only achieved outstanding financial performance, but also built a strong corporate reputation over the years. These companies have achieved business excellence in a sustainable and ethical way for their employees, customers, investors, and the general community.
What sets these awards apart is the survey that was carried out as an initial step through Dialog amongst the eligible business entities as well as professionals. The survey gathered information on the most admired companies, based on a few stringently set criteria. The list of organisations thus highlighted in the survey was used to facilitate entry into the awards. In addition, the stringent evaluation, based on globally accepted criteria by a distinguished panel of judges, also make these awards exclusive and exceptional.
Companies that have been in business for over 5 years as of 30th June and are 40% or more of Sri Lankan ownership are eligible to enter this Award competition. It is open to both listed and unlisted companies in Sri Lanka. Those ranked Top 10 will, in addition to the title, be privy to publicity and recognition throughout the country and beyond, and will be privileged to use their success as an opportunity to build further on their organisational image as well as their brand.
ICCSL Chairman Dinesh Weerakkody, FCMA, CGMA, stated: “What differentiates these awards will be the participation of unlisted companies here in Sri Lanka, who for the first time will be recognised. These private companies have excelled and contributed to the sustainable economic growth of Sri Lanka. Moreover, these companies have been able to translate their successes on a global platform and compete with International players. It is with this background that we encourage all Sri Lankan global players to take part in these awards.”
CIMA Country Manager for Sri Lanka Zahara Ansary, ACMA, CGMA, said, “The stringent criteria in place to select the Top 10 ensures that these Awards are in line with reputed International Rankings. We believe the participants and the winners will gain significantly by being a part of this competition. CIMA has always been in the forefront of helping businesses to succeed and this time we wish to get our Sri Lankan companies the highest recognition they truly deserve”.
The new application submission deadline is now 23 July.
The Awards ceremony is slated to take place on 10 September with the attendance of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and CIMA President Steven Swientozielskyj. ICCSL has also extended an invitation to ICC International General Secretary John Denton.
