The Court of Appeal has ordered the Consumer Affairs Authority to withdraw the Gazette notification issued in August declaring Maximum Retail Price (MRP) for red and white eggs.
The decision was announced when the petition filed by a group of egg producers was taken up at the Appeals Court yesterday.
The Consumer Affairs Authority imposed maximum retail prices on eggs after traders started selling eggs for exorbitant prices.
Accordingly, the Consumer Affairs Authority has been instructed to declare new control prices for red and white eggs.
The petition will be taken up at the Appeals Court once again today.
