The Committee on Parliamentary Business that convened yesterday under the patronage of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene has decided that Parliament will convene next Tuesday (13 December) instead of next Saturday (10 December).
It was previously decided to hold Parliament sittings on 10 December, while the day was reserved for Questions for Oral Answers.
Accordingly, 13 December has been reserved for Questions for Oral Answers and as previously decided, the second reading debate of the Value Added Tax (Amendment) and Inland Revenue (Amendment) Bills will be held on 9 December.
The committee also agreed to hold the vote on the third reading of the 2023 Appropriation Bill on 8 December.
In addition, it was decided to present the Order mentioned in Gazette No. 2308/62 dated 3 December 2022 under the Essential Public Service Act No. 61 of 1979, published by the President, for approval on 8 December.
Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake said a decision was also reached at the Committee on Parliamentary Business that Parliament will convene for its first sitting on 17 January 2023.
