Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to China Dr. Palitha Kohona had met with the Deputy Governor of Henan Province He Jinping, and the Deputy Mayor of Zhengzhou Wu Fu Min, recently, the Foreign Ministry has said.
The Deputy Governor has detailed the current economic performance of the rich Henan province. He stated that its historical and current strategic strength as a vital railway and highway hub in the centre of China is outstanding and that the province is enriched with diverse culture – especially Buddhist tradition – educational opportunities and international connections.
He complimented Sri Lanka as the star of Indian Ocean and recalled Henan’s strong Buddhist links with Sri Lanka in the past, and hoped for similar links today on agriculture, manufacturing, trade, Buddhism, tourism and energy.
Responding to Dr. Kohona’s request, He Jinping enthusiastically supported establishing a Sri Lanka National Pavilion at the enormous Bairong Wholesale Market, which would facilitate and accelerate the entry of more Sri Lankan products to the lucrative Chinese market.
