The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce launched its third annual outlook report titled ‘Economy + Sector Review and Outlook 2019’, which contains insights on the key trends, risks and prospects of both the local and global economy as well as high-level perspective on the performance of key sectors.
This publication produced by the Economic Intelligence Unit of The Ceylon Chamber provides a recap of the economic performance in 2018 and provides guidance on macroeconomic indicators for 2019 such as GDP, inflation, external sector, currency, monetary and fiscal policy. Under the Sector Insights and Outlook section, the report covers sectors such as tea, rubber, apparel, consumer durables, FMCG, tourism, financial sector, construction, logistics and transport.
Commenting on the launch of the report, CCC Chief Economist Shiran Fernando noted, “The theme of our report this year is titled ‘Building Resilience Amidst Uncertainty’ and we hope this publication will assist the private sector in navigating through uncertain economic conditions in 2019.”
The report was launched at the Ceylon Chamber’s annual Economic Outlook Seminar on 17 January 2019 with the first report presented to the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
