Malraj B. Kiriella, a multidisciplinary professional and past President of CMI Sri Lanka branch, has been conferred to its highest level of membership, the Chartered Manager Companion (CMgr CCMI) status by CMI UK. Mr. Kiriella is the fourth Sri Lankan to have such a status.
Kiriella joined CMI as a fellow member in 2006 and held various positions such as Member of the Action Committee, Member of the ExCo, Assistant Secretary, Secretary and Vice President of the CMI Sri Lanka Branch, before becoming its President in 2016.
During his term as President, he initiated programs to strengthen membership, developed and promoted the CMI Chartered Manager Program locally and organised programs to enhance the knowledge and skills of local managers with a view to enhancing professionalism in the country. The first-ever CMI Management Excellence Awards Scheme in Sri Lanka, which took place in 2018, was also organised during his presidency, considered to be a landmark event that brought CMI Sri Lanka to a greater level.

Kiriella has served in senior management roles in various fields in both the private and public sectors in Sri Lanka and has over three decades of work experience. He is currently the founder and owner of South Asia Multidisciplinary Advisory Services (SAMAS), an organisation with the mission to provide an ethical and competent service to all stakeholders while contributing to sustainable development in the region.
