The Discussion Forum ‘Way Forward for the Construction Industry Crisis in Sri Lanka’ organised by Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB) will be held today at the Organisation of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA)Auditorium.
Chamber of Construction Sri Lanka President Eng. Maj. Ranjith Gunatilleke, Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI )Director General Champika Malalgoda, University of Colombo Senior Professo rProf. Ranjith Bandara and Rocell Ceramics Lanka PLC Managing Director Aravinda Perera will be the panellists of this Discussion Forum.
Speaking about this Discussion Forum, Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB) President Dr. Rohan Karunaratne says: “The construction industry is facing a massive crisis at present. Many construction industrialists have obtained huge loans from banks. Architects, engineers, masons, carpenters and others in the industry are now facing unemployment.
“So, we organised this Discussion Forum with the objective of discussing the present crisis in the construction industry with heads of organisations representing the construction industry and heads of organisations with connected with the Government and seek solutions. We have planned to prepare a set of proposals to solve the present crisis in the constructions and present it to all main candidates of the forthcoming Presidential Election.”
CIOB is an organisation consisting of construction industrialists representing the common advancement of the construction industry in Sri Lanka and organising various programs to achieve that
