The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) new challenge will see young professionals from companies in Sri Lanka battle it out in a new competition designed to test their business acumen. The first teams are due to compete in November this year.
To participate, candidates need to either have a recognised MBA or have three years of relevant work experience. The challenge is open to companies as well as individual teams.
All the participating teams (of four each) will then go through a comprehensive yet flexible workshop and assessment program towards achieving their global certification and title – CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting. This also includes a number of practical sessions that supports critical thinking and decision-making which candidates can apply in any business environment.
An exclusive opportunity for the challenge participants is that, those passing the Management Case Study (MCS) exam on the first attempt, will be bestowed with a power-packed opportunity for a direct route towards the final assessment i.e. the Strategic Case Study (SCS), to complete the CIMA Professional qualification. Those with relevant work experience can thereafter proceed to apply for membership from CIMA.
In addition to the qualification, the best performing team from Sri Lanka will go onto compete against teams from the Middle Eastern and South Asian regions towards winning the grand prize of GBP 10,000.
Following the launch of the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation in 2012, both CIMA and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) have come together to form the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants. Operational since January 2017, the Association represents 667,000 members and students in public and management accounting. With broad reach, rigor and resources, the Association advances the reputation, employability and quality of CGMAs and accounting and finance professionals globally.
CGMA is the most widely held management accounting designation in the world. It distinguishes accounting and finance professionals who have advanced proficiency in finance, operations, strategy and management.
