The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has informed the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka yesterday that it has agreed to forego the bonuses for this year.
“As directed by PUCSL, CEB Board of Directors and Trade Unions have agreed to forego bonus for the year 2022,” PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayake said yesterday.
The Commission’s Chief last week strongly recommended CEB to reduce costs by refraining from paying bonus or other ex gratia payments till CEB financial position improves. “The Commission hereby reiterate and strongly recommend not to provide bonus and ex gratia payments for the financial year 2002,” Ratnayake stated in a letter addressed to CEB Chief Nalinda Illangakoon last Tuesday.
PUCSL Chairman yesterday said the CEB will save millions of rupees through the decision to forego the bonus.
