Business Women Wing of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce to expand trade, investment with Sri Lanka

A delegation led by the Chairperson of the Business Women Wing of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hemlata C. Bhoota called on Sri Lanka High Commissioner to India Austin Fernando recently. The main objective of the meeting was to discuss opportunities for expanding trade and investment between the state of Gujarat and Sri Lanka. 

During the meeting the High Commissioner welcomed the delegation and highlighted the long-standing trade and economic relations between Sri Lanka and India, reiterating the importance of exploring business potential in Sri Lanka by the members of the Business Women Wing of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He apprised them of the current situation in Sri Lanka and emphasised the progressive steps taken by the Sri Lankan Government for the revival of the business and tourism industry post-terror attacks. Fernando also encouraged the members of the BWW to continue their engagement with Sri Lanka in exploring business and investment opportunities.

Chairperson Bhoota expressed her appreciation to the Fernando for sharing the recent economic developments in the country and proposed the Sri Lanka High Commission to organise a Sri Lanka Business and Investment Forum in Gujarat, in association with the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, for direct engagement with the members to enhance business collaboration between Gujarat’s private sector and Sri Lanka.
