University Business Linkage Cell, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka is passing a new milestone with its effort in exposing the university inventions to the external business stakeholders to build a network in an increasingly interconnected business world. In line with UBLC’s continuous advancement as the linking partner of the university researchers with the industry, they have signed the first licensing agreement with Food & Nature Ltd. (FADNA) to commercialise an herbal low glycaemic tea formulation.
The official ceremony was held on 15 February at the board room of the Vice Chancellor’s office of the University. The Vice-Chancellor of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, Director and Manager of University Business Linkage Cell, Managing Director and Deputy General Manager of Food & Nature Ltd. and the research team of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, were the key participants in the event.
The University Business Linkage Cell of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka was established with reference to the University Grants Commission Circular No. 10/2016 from May 2018. The main role of this initiative is to transform the innovative ideas of the university into commercially viable products. The Sabaragamuwa University has seven faculties with highly qualified academic staff with much intellectual eminence. In technology transfer process the UBLC transforms the ideas into intellectual property by filling the patents and other forms of Intellectual Property (IP) and with the help of industry partner, UBLC looks for commercial exploitation which will be ultimately supported for the economic development of Sri Lanka.
