Basil Rajapaksa visits GRI’s Advanced Specialty Tire Production Plant

Global Rubber Industries (GRI) said yesterday it was honoured to host Basil Rajapaksa on a visit to one of the most sophisticated tire production plants in Sri Lanka. Recently.

GRI’s advanced new factory is the largest in Sri Lanka to produce specialty tires and the first to produce radial agriculture tires in the country. 

Basil Rajapaksa stated, “I appreciate and encourage the efforts made by private sector companies such as GRI in driving the economic prosperity of our country. GRI is one of the key players in developing and producing high-grade specialty tires for the global market, using Sri Lankan natural rubber, and adding significant value to this local raw material. I’m happy to recognise the ways in which GRI is contributing towards the economic prosperity of Sri Lanka and their efforts towards very high standards of quality.” Rajapaksa witnessed some of the most advanced tire production machines in the country, innovative technologies, and cutting-edge capabilities that GRI possess to produce these high-performance tires for special machines used in agriculture, construction, and material handling industries. 

“GRI’s commitment to quality in its tires begins from the careful selection of the finest raw materials to the finished product that leaves its factory. As part of its GREENX Circle initiative, GRI has opened many natural rubber collection centres around the island. These collection centres enable rural farmers to earn fair value for their work and GRI to take great care of the farming communities in our wider eco-system. We aim to unite farmers by underscoring the fact that farmers connect the world we live today,” said GRI CEO Dr. Mahesha Ranasoma. 

Basil Rajapaksa recognised GRI efforts to uplift the local rubber farmers through GRI’s GREENX Circle initiative.  GRI’s Managing Director Prabhash Subasinghe stated, “We are encouraged by the Government’s thought leadership, vision and clear direction to drive the nation towards prosperity through balanced social and economic development. Specialty tires are a high value-added export. We are relentlessly striving forward to do our part and support the government in every way possible. Our purpose is to inspire greatness.”  GRI produces radial agriculture tires, construction tires and material handling solid tires and has offices in nine countries, with sales in over fifty countries. GRI’s advanced production plant is the largest to produce high-grade specialty tires and the first to produce radial agriculture tires in Sri Lanka.
