Anverally and Sons Ltd., one of Sri Lanka’s oldest exporters of tea whose brews delight consumers in more than 100 countries, won the Gold award in the ‘Extra-Large’ category of the ‘Tea and Tea Products’ sector at the 2020 Annual Export Awards of the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE).
Themed ‘Resilient Exporters,’ the 28th edition of this awards ceremony was especially significant to Sri Lankan exporters in the backdrop of the severely affected international trade environment due to the global pandemic, as it ventured to showcase their success stories and achievements to business counterparts in overseas markets.
This is the second major award won by Anverally and Sons this year. In January, the Company received the Export Brand of the Year – Bronze award at the 2020 Brand Excellence Awards presented by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM).
Commenting on the Company’s triumph at the NCE awards, Anverally and Sons Chairman Mohamed Anverally said: “We are elated to once again win this award, and especially so because we have progressed from Silver last year to Gold in a year that was tumultuous and full of challenges. The industry as a whole faced a turbulent time in 2020, but the Company was able to maintain its number one rank in several Middle Eastern countries such as Iraq and Libya. We value this award as a testament to our resilience and ability to maintain quality standards and retain customers, even in times of adversity.”
The NCE Export Awards are designed to recognise and reward outstanding performance of exporters in the country. The event has achieved national recognition over the past 28 years due to its professionalism and high standards. This prestigious award is meant to enhance the visibility of the exporter in the global market and help it gain prominence and ease of access into various international markets.
In bestowing this award, the Chamber recognises various important aspects of a business with emphasis on the triple bottom line of People, Planet and Profit. Further, special awards are given for Innovation, Value Additions and Research and Development, keeping abreast with the economic focus of the Sri Lankan Government.
