This week’s tea auctions commenced on Thursday 16 April on the current online platform. There was an excellent all-round demand and prices appreciated in value for all tea growing elevations which would be a boost to the tea industry, economy and all those directly and indirectly connected to the tea trade.
Hingalgoda Tea Factory situated in the sub district of Galle broke its previous all-time record price for a PF1 grade by obtaining Rs. 1,250 at the tea auctions of 16 April. This invoice was purchased by Beta Tea Exports. Hingalgoda is renowned for manufacturing top-of-the-range low grown CTC grades and regularly obtains top prices at the weekly tea auctions. Hingalgoda consistently produces superior teas that are well sought-after by the leading buyers participating at the weekly tea auctions.
