Abans Service, the after-sales service provider of Abans Group, recently conducted a meaningful staff get-together. This occasion underscored the importance of upholding peace and harmony within the Sri Lankan community. Aptly titled ‘United We Stand, Divided We Fall’, the day-long event took place on 6 July at the S. De. S. Jayasinghe Grounds, Dehiwala.
The occasion saw the gathering of all Abans Service employees and their families under one roof. Spiritual leaders from the Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic, and Christian religions were invited to speak on the significance of maintaining close family bonds and unity within our multi-cultural society especially in these challenging times. The directors and senior management of Abans Group and Abans Service were also in attendance at the event.
Throughout the event, Abans Service employees were treated to a series of activities that provided excitement for the whole family. Staff came dressed up in their best ethnic wear and were asked to showcase their outfits during the Abans Service ‘Kumariya’ and ‘Kumari’ pageant. They also participated in a thrilling round of traditional fun activities. The occasion provided entertainment for the children of the employees including face painting, bouncy castles, a play zone, and so forth.
The Abans Service Staff Get-together reflected Pestonjee’s objective to create strong unification across the Sri Lankan community. By bringing together spiritual leaders from the four primary religions, Pestonjee aimed to underscore the common bond that undergirds the Sri Lankan society – the family. This event represented the first step in Pestonjee’s overall movement towards promoting the key values of peace and tolerance not just at Abans, but also, across the nation. Abans, under her guidance, plans on conducting additional events in the future to continually communicate the fact that our brilliantly diverse community is what makes Sri Lanka truly Sri Lanka.
