AAT hosts seminar on Lessons from Military Leadership

The Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (AAT Sri Lanka) recently hosted a seminar on Lessons from Military Leadership for the public and AAT members.  The main objective of the seminar to outline the key attitudes and behavioural aspects of a soldier and how we should get relate it to our day-tod-ay activities. 

The keynote was delivered by Dr. Ajith Colonne, Management Consultant and Lecturer, Former Deputy Director and Advisor on Intelligence Analysis State Intelligence Service on Military leadership. He mainly discussed the training, specialised skills, team spirit, morale and the attitudes of military people with few experiences. Furthermore, he described that these qualities could improve on the civilians to gain more results from their day today activities and the benefits of following these qualities of a business environment.

After that, the panel discussion has started and it was moderated by AAT Seminar Committee Chairman and AAT Governing Council Member Indraka Liyanage. The panellists were Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, General Officer Commanding in Jaffna Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, and Deputy Inspector General (Motor Traffic) Ajith Rohana.

The adaptation of military practices to civil leadership was compared during the panel discussion.  The core elements that were described were efficiency, integrity, punctuality, practicing, training and using the above in an ethical way. They shared their experiences of their departments and explained how they became successful. This seminar was organised by the AAT Sri Lanka Seminar Committee at AAT Centre.
